In the main training areas of the Louisiana
Resource Center for Educators there hangs a sign, “The Student
is the Customer.” People have different reactions to the
banner, but our patrons understand that the reason we exist is to
serve children. Teachers are our internal customers and central to
the delivery of education to the students. The effectiveness of our
mission is directly related to how well we communicate with donors
and provide training and resources for the teachers on the front
line. Our customers, both students and teachers, deserve our very

The Louisiana Resource
Center for Educators (LRCE) is dedicated to supporting innovation in
education for students, teachers, administrators, higher education
and families. LRCE houses a multi-media lending library of
35,000+ items which can be searched
online. We are a shared resource center for educators in the public,
private, parochial, charter, and home school sectors. Additionally,
we provide workshops and training for Louisiana's educators, an
alternative certification program, and more.

LRCE is located at 7305 Florida Boulevard, Suite D,
AT THE BACK of the Bon Carre’ Business Center (formerly the Bon Marché
Mall) at the corner of Florida Boulevard and Lobdell Avenue. LRCE has a red
awning over its entrance and is located between Cox Communications and Baton
Rouge City Police.

E-Rate is the abbreviation for the Education Rate; universal
service discounts available to Kindergarten through Grade 12 elementary and
secondary public schools, and public libraries. The Universal Services
Discount fund, which will make available $2.25 billion per year, will
reimburse companies selling telecommunication services.
This discount
can be worth about $100,000 or more of services per year for a school
district.

The E-rate - or, more precisely, the Schools and Libraries Universal Service
Support Mechanism - provides discounts to assist most schools and libraries
in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet
access.
