SPED Pro Special Education Add-On Certification

    Overview

    Our 100% virtual Special Education Program (SPED Pro) teaches the initial knowledge and skills for being a champion SPED teacher, letting you add Mild to Moderate Special Education to your current teaching license in as little as one semester!

    Our SPED Pro program is the special education coursework required to add Mild to Moderate Special Education to your existing certification. In addition to this coursework, you will need to have 9 course hours of literacy, which can be fulfilled by LRCE courses, or it may have already been fulfilled through your undergraduate program or the LETRS Literacy Foundations Course. You will also need to pass Praxis Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications (5355) and pass Praxis Teaching of Reading Elementary (5205) or Teaching of Reading: Elementary Subtest (7002).

    Course Design

    Led By A Champion Team

    In-depth, practical coursework taught by Champion Special Educators through live Zoom sessions.

    Students engage in live lessons through:

    • Fully virtual course sessions on Zoom
    • Curriculum grounded in practical application
    • Interactive discussion and practice-based sessions
    • Supportive learning environment with personalized mentorship
    • Our Literacy course is available to those who have not yet met this requirement for their add-on requirement
    • Preparation to effectively write and manage IEP caseloads, understand SPED compliance law, and enact instructional strategies

    Instructors are available for office hours to provide individual support.

    All of our activities are practical, real-world applications for special education teachers. SPED Pro participants are supported with individualized support until their work product is exemplary and can serve as a resource for the teacher in their classroom.

    Program Costs

    $3,800 ($500 discount for paying in full)
    Additional Literacy Course: $750

    A partial payment is required to enroll in the program. We work with individuals to arrange flexible payment options. Many of our district and school partners offer full or partial reimbursement for your program fees.

    Program fees must be paid in full prior to receiving their Letter of Completion.

    Must hold at least a Level 1 Teach certificate in Louisiana
